Nose Dragger FAQs

In most cases, the decision between gas and electric is based on customer preference: would you rather deal with charging and maintaining the batteries or filling up the gas motor? Other considerations include the availability of an electrical outlet, whether you are using the tug indoors or outdoors, differences in sound, use in extreme heat or cold, etc. However, we would suggest a gas unit if your use case requires very frequent / constant use throughout an extended period of time.

The Bumper Roller is an extra set of rollers that add an additional layer of security to make sure your nose wheel remains securely within the unit’s gate. The Bumper Roller only works on the nose dragger units and with planes without wheel pants. We suggest using the Bumper Roller if you need to move your non-fairing plane over any notable bumps or lips. The Bumper Roller requires assembly in order to appropriately align with your nosewheel.

Our Nose dragger units can work with wheel fairings as long as you have more than 3 inches of clearance from the ground to the bottom of the wheel pants. While there can be differences among certain vintages and you must confirm your plane’s measurement, we have found that most Piper and Cessna planes have sufficient clearance, but newer Cirrus SR-22 may not, for example. If you are looking to move a plane that has insufficient clearance for the Dragger units, please contact us so that we can provide an alternative solution.

My electric Nose-Dragger Dragger just celebrated its 12th birthday. Over those years, my powerful and easy-to-use tug served flawlessly as it eased my Cessna into and out of its hanger countless times. But after twelve years or service, I encountered my first problem – the rocker switch that controls the motor wore out. I was initially concerned about finding parts for my faithful tug, but Google found Dragger.com’s website and I called the company to see if they’d be able to help. What a pleasant experience that was! The receptionist knew exactly what I needed and had the part delivered quickly. The part differed from the original but another call to Dragger put me in touch with their chief technician who immediately emailed me a diagram that described the installation. When that confused me, I made another call and the technician walked me step-by-step through the installation process and waited patiently while I followed his instructions. I can’t ever remember having such exceptional and personal service from a company. I heartily recommend the Nose-Dragger Dragger to owners of tricycle gear airplanes. It’s a great product backed by a company that really cares about its customers.

I purchased the 12 Volt Electric Nose-Dragger for my Piper Saratoga about a month ago and just wanted to let you know how much I love it! I went from a Cherokee to a Saratoga and was shocked at how much heavier the Saratoga was. My wife soon regretted the new heavier airplane, as she was the one I had to call everytime to meet me at the airport to help me push the plane back into the hangar. My wife is actually the one who found the Nose-Dragger online. From the moment I used this, I realized what an invaluable product this is. I thank you very much, and my wife thanks you even more!!!

I really enjoyed working with the folks at Nose Dragger. They spent hours working with me to determine if I had enough clearance for the Tug to clear my wheel pant on the nose wheel of my Cessna 182 S. The Tug arrived in Birmingham Alabama extremely well packed and they even offered if it did not work to have it returned at their expense ! They did everything and more to make the sale most pleasurable.

Dear Carol and Angel, This testimonial is from Randall and Valerie Seiler from Hoffman Estates, Illinois. My wife and I purchased a Nose Dragger for our Cherokee about 10 years ago. Since then we sold the Cherokee and purchased a heavier Beechcraft Bonanza. The 12 volt motor on our Nose Dragger worked fine up until last year so we decided to purchase a newer, more powerful 24 volt motor along with 2 batteries and a 24 volt charger. We couldn’t be happier with the purchases and Airtug/Dragger, LLC. Recently however, the 24 volt charger stopped working and we called the manufacturer to see if they could repair it. They said it would take about 15 working days from when they received it to repair the charger. I then called Airtug/Dragger. You said you would send a new 24 volt charger out right away and asked me if I could send my broken charger back upon receiving the new one. You would pay for the freight and I would have a new charger virtually overnight. This is by far the best service I’ve ever received by any company. I would highly recommend Airtug/Dragger, LLC, to anyone that needs a great airplane tug product and I absolutely guarantee that you will be very happy with their service. Airtug/Dragger definitely stands behind the products they sell. Thank you for your help!

I needed a powered tug for my Cessna, Bonanza and for my Twin Aerostar and wanted the best one on the market, I took a lot of time and researched all the available products and found that the only one that would work for me would be the NOSE-DRAGGER DRAGGER from Skyline Aviation Inc. I found that the design and simplicity of this machine was well thought out and very capable of the performance I’ve come to appreciate over the years. I also experienced a valuable and knowledgeable sales staff off current pilots that lead me to the proper model for my application.
