The Airplane Tow Tug Is A Must For Any Hangar

Airplane Tow Tug

One of the most exciting events a pilot will experience is the delivery of a new aircraft. So much so that little emphasis is put on getting the right airplane tow tug to move it in the hangar when it arrives. At this point, who's thinking of putting the airplane away? Lets go flying! Once all of the excitement settles and the sun starts going down, you will will move your new aircraft into its new home. How you do it can set the stage for ongoing success or an unfortunate costly failure. The tow tug needs to be your primary piece of equipment in the hangar.

There are many different ways to go about deciding on the purchase of an airplane tow tug. Some will attempt to borrow their neighbors equipment. That rarely works, because inevitably the neighbor has an airplane that is different in many ways. Others will attempt to move the aircraft without the help of a tug. Over time that will get less and less popular. You can call the FBO and they will move your aircraft. However, don't be surprised when you sign the ticket for the service or get the bill at the end of the month indicating several moves in and out of your hangar. Those charges can add up fast for the tow tug service.

Then there is the tug connoisseur. The equipment capacity might be measurably more than needed, but it makes a statement. The bottom line is - there is a wide range of acceptable choices for your airplane tow tug. The most important choice is the one that ensures a proper fit to your nose wheel or tail wheel gear coupled with the necessary power to tow your airplane over the adjacent terrain e.g. grass, gravel, dirt or simply a paved ramp with an incline. It's important to consider your hangar environment closely in order to make the best decision for moving your airplane.

One of the great benefits of owning an airplane tow tug is being able to operate on you own schedule. You will not have to wait for the FBO or for a line crew person to help you get your aircraft moved. This means more time in the cockpit which is the way it's suppose to be. It's nice as well as convenient to be able to politely turn down someone offering to help you move your airplane. Aircraft owners really don't want anyone touching their prized possession anyway. Having a tug solves that issue.

Dragger manufacturers a complete line of ground support equipment to meet the needs of owners and operators of light aircraft. Options include an airplane tow tug that is gasoline or battery powered depending on your preference. It's important to note that the performance of a battery operated tug will be greatly diminished in cold environments.

The folks at Dragger will work hard to ensure they supply light aircraft owners with the best airplane tugs to fit the budget as well as the aircraft. Our ground support equipment is designed in a walk behind configuration and rated for aircraft weighing up to 6000 lbs.

Having the right equipment at your hangar can add to the great experience most of us encounter every time we have the privilege of going to the airport.
